WHAT WE DO
Canadian Canine Training Academy (CCTA) was founded in Ottawa Ontario in 1995 by Randy Chartrand and was originally located at the National Capital Equestrian Park for the first 18 years. We moved to our new location at 190 Menten Place in Bells Corners in 2012 after the closing of the Equestrian Park by the city of Ottawa. Randy completed his training as a professional dog trainer at the West Virginia Canine College in 1994 with studies in training dogs in Obedience, Personal Protection, Agility, Tracking, Man-trailing, Police K9 training, Confirmation, Kennel Management and Basic Veterinary Medicine.
Randy has also completed studies through the University of Guelph in how dogs learn, the principles of learning and their practical application in dog training and behaviour modification.
Over the years Randy has trained tens of thousands of people and dogs to help improve their working relationship through mutual understanding and respect. He has also trained and certified over 200 professional dog trainers, many who are successfully operating their own dog training organizations today.
In 2014 Randy created the Canadian Veteran Service Dog Unit (CVSDU) with the help of the trainers that have been trained through CCTA. He created the charity to be able to provide free certified service dogs, training and support to Veterans and First Responders suffering with PTSD.
Randy is now semi retired, however; he still enjoys working with people to help them take the stress out of having a dog with problems through education and personally coaching people to make having a dog one of the best relationships they can have.
If you have a problem dog, call our head office and speak to Kim or fill in the free evaluation to book an appointment to come and see Randy to get a better understanding of why your dog is behaving the way they are and what needs to be done to get your dog on track to be the dog you always wanted and more.
Meet Kim! As the Canadian Canine Administrator, Kim is here to provide you with information, answer all of your questions, and schedule your dog’s evaluation and training appointments.
She keeps everything here at Canadian Canine Training Academy running like a well-oiled machine! As one of our awesome clients wrote in a recent Google review…“Kim in the office is very professional and a gem to coordinate with. Stars all around!”
We couldn’t agree more! Her friendly and kind nature always puts everyone (furry and otherwise) at ease. Thanks for all you do Kim!
Here she is at our CCTA office!
